For more than 20 years, Peter Alden has designed and led birding and wildlife tours, safaris and cruises to over 100 countries. A pioneering explorer, Peter scouted and led the first hard-core birding eco-tours to many tropical and southern hemisphere countries. His interests have widened from his original field of ornithology to include all visible biodiversity, conservation issues, historical changes in the landscape, climate change and the invasive alien plant and animal crisis affecting us today. Today, Peter leads private and select commercial land trips for small groups or families in Africa and Latin America, combining the best birding with opportunities for mammal photography, cultural highlights and recharging batteries. Peter is also in much demand as a destination and wildlife lecturer on small and medium-sized cruise ships and ice breakers, as well as on luxury private jet excursions. He typically works either directly for the cruise company, or for a local or national museum or conservation group.

from-the-bridge-adjusted-2He continues to amass a fabulous photography collection of the world’s wildlife for entertaining and stunning lectures at sea, in the air or at overseas hotels. He is a professional wildlife spotter and identifier who travels with good binoculars and a telescope on a tripod. Whether showing albatrosses at sea, spotting polar bears on the ice, or scoping ibis at a savanna pool he misses little and shares infectious enthusiasm. His personal library of 5000 books and files on all the birds, larger mammals and destinations of the world allow him to make customized color wildlife guides to specific locales at specific seasons. Peter is available as a prime leader and lecturer world-wide for operators, organizations and small groups. Partial list of clients:
